Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to Cayuga County Criminal History. They define the website's limited role as a private reference resource, set lawful-use rules, and explain the limits that apply to linked records and outside search tools. The terms also address accuracy, legal advice, intellectual property, liability, and Fair Credit Reporting Act restrictions. Reading the content, opening any page, or submitting a search constitutes agreement to the terms below. Anyone who does not accept them must stop using the website.

NO FCRA USE. Cayuga County Criminal History is privately operated and has no government affiliation. This website and its advertising partners do not offer tools for credit decisions, employment screening, insurance underwriting, tenant screening, or any other Fair Credit Reporting Act purpose. The resource helps visitors locate criminal-record channels in Cayuga County, New York. It is neither a private investigation service nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no connection to a government office. It does not store official criminal records, perform official checks, retrieve files, or submit documents for a visitor.

Its function is to identify the Cayuga County Sheriff's Records Section, originating court clerks, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, the New York State Sex Offender Registry, and outside tools that may assist with personal research. Local numbers may also be checked in the county directory.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use is conditioned on an agreement not to:

  • Interfere with performance or prevent another visitor from gaining access
  • Deploy a bot, scraper, or other automated collection tool against the pages
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any system or account
  • Use the content for a housing, hiring, lending, or insurance decision
  • Threaten, stalk, or harass anyone using information found here
  • Violate federal, New York, or local law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No one may use information obtained here or through a linked tool to threaten, stalk, harass, intimidate, or discriminate against a person. Misuse may also violate the law. New York's Sex Offender Registration Act, Correction Law Article 6-C, governs disclosure from the New York State Sex Offender Registry. Registry information exists for public-safety awareness and does not authorize vigilantism, blacklisting, or discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and produce no consumer report, credit report, or background check. Our advertising partners likewise do not provide a tool intended to assess an applicant, renter, borrower, or insured person. Information from this website or a linked tool may not be used to:

  • Make any other decision regulated by the FCRA
  • Determine eligibility for a permit, license, or public program
  • Assess credit or calculate an insurance premium
  • Evaluate a housing application
  • Make a hiring or termination decision

A check for a regulated purpose must come through an authorized official process or an FCRA-compliant screening provider, as the applicable law requires.

5. No Legal Advice

The content is not legal advice. General information about Cayuga County records cannot determine how a charge, conviction, warrant, or New York record-sealing law applies to a specific matter. A licensed New York attorney must provide that advice.

6. No Warranties

All content is provided "as is." No promise is made that:

  • An outside search result will be complete or correct
  • The pages contain no error, defect, or security weakness
  • Access will remain uninterrupted
  • Every detail is complete, accurate, and current

Criminal records can change as charges are filed, resolved, corrected, or sealed. Gaps and delays are unavoidable. Nothing published here is an official statement of a Cayuga County court, the sheriff, DCJS, or another government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to sheriff pages, court systems, state agencies, legal-aid organizations, and outside search providers. Those destinations are beyond our control. We do not accept responsibility for their availability, content, privacy practices, or fees. Their own terms should be reviewed before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, logos, graphics, and code belong to Cayuga County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, adapted, distributed, or used to create derivative work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, we disclaim liability for damages arising from use of the website, including reliance on information obtained here or from a linked provider.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, actions, or demands caused by your use of the website or violation of these terms, including related costs and legal fees.

11. Governing Law

New York law governs these terms, including applicable protections in General Business Law §349 and the New York Freedom of Information Law, Public Officers Law Article 6, where official agency access is discussed. Any dispute tied to use of the website must be filed in a court located in New York.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A revision becomes effective when it is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or ended at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected language will be adjusted only to the extent needed for enforceability.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
